Are you a curious and motivated high school junior looking to learn more about cooperative business, make new friends, and experience the excitement of our nation's Capitol Hill? Join us for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Legislative Tour—a unique opportunity that combines education, advocacy, and adventure!
What is the Legislative Youth Tour?
The NRECA Legislative Tour is an immersive experience designed to engage young leaders like you in the world of cooperative business and give you a firsthand look at how our government works. This dynamic program will take you to Washington, D.C., where you'll meet with lawmakers, participate in active sessions about the cooperative business model, and explore the rich history and culture of our nation’s capital.
The 2025 Legislative Youth Tour is sponsored by Otsego Electric Cooperative and is available to students who reside in a home serviced by the Cooperative. Qualified students who apply have the opportunity to participate in an exciting trip to Washington D.C. in April. The selected student will join representatives from the Cooperative in meetings on Capitol Hill with members of Congress as part of the annual National Rural Electric Cooperative Association ("NRECA") Legislative Conference.
Students will also have the chance to enjoy a tour of Washington D.C. with student representatives from the other New York State electric cooperatives.
Participating in the Youth Tour is a great way to learn about this great nation, develop leadership skills, gain a better understanding of electric cooperatives, and make friendships that last forever.
